The Highlands Ability Battery^TM was introduced in paper-and-pencil format in 1992. Many Highlands Affiliates continue to administer the test in this format. In 1998, a CD version of the test was introduced. The CD version was revised in 2003. Many Affiliates offer the test in the CD version.

In June 2004, the Company perfected the online version of the Battery. This version permits access on PC and MAC, on all Internet browsers, and through both dial-up and broadband. In all versions, the Battery relies on the same nineteen worksamples and results in the same individual Profile and Report.

The online version permits instant access to the instructions and registration process. To begin the online Battery, you need a registration key.
